Australia is a large, dispersed, and space dependent nation that uses positioning, navigation and timing services in every aspect of daily life. Such dependence comes with a risk of either natural, or human generated interruption, causing significant disruption to critical infrastructure and services. Management of such a risk requires a whole of government approach that can together build the Australian industry to support future risk mitigation efforts. Australia’s PNT needs in the next 10 years on Earth and in space require a unified industry aligned on a common vision for the sector. The Australian Space Agency and Geoscience Australia are creating a national PNT roadmap to guide Australian industry on the future direction for PNT.
