The Australian Academy of Science Theo Murphy Initiative-funded "Conversation in Space" enabled the delivery of a mentoring program supporting career development in space science and linked industry sectors. The aim is to improve workforce opportunities, equity, and diversity, as well as support the growth of space science R&D, via meaningful connections between early and mid-to-late career space academics and industry professionals. These are identified as a critical need in the decadal plan for Australian space science. The pilot program has met widespread enthusiastic support in the Australian space community. Here we present the pilot program's outcomes and advertise the first year of program operations.
