Space weather can pose a serious threat to increasingly complex communications and technological systems. It can impact the near-Earth space environment and on Earth. As reliance on technology grows, so does the risk of disruption to our daily lives. The Bureau of Meteorology (the Bureau) provides trusted, reliable and responsive space weather services for the Australian region – all day, every day, and is the home of space weather alerts, warnings, and forecasts within Australia. The emerging space industry, growing need for space situational awareness, and increasing reliance on technologies impacted by space have provided the impetus for a transformation of the Bureau's space weather capability. Accompanying this transformation is a stock-take of current, emerging, and future needs for space weather information. The findings of a broad-sweeping engagement being conducted will culminate in a space weather roadmap charting the Bureau's priorities for space weather services over the next decade and beyond. This presentation will outline the timelines and approach being followed, and how insights from stakeholder engagement will inform our activities. An overview of the Bureau's new Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre, its space weather products, and plans underway to better integrate space weather into national emergency management procedures will also be provided.
