Satellite imagery and geospatial data offer opportunities for greater efficiency and sustainability in global agricultural activities, with the ability to collect key agricultural data to monitor soil, snow cover, drought and crop development. However, the high resolution images needed for these applications are only available with high minimum order quantities, necessitating large purchases of imagery that are not needed by the farmer. Spiral Blue is partnering with DataFarming and SatRev to develop an earth observation satellite mission capable of delivering cloud-free and NDVI data cropped to the specific areas of interest. This will allow users to better understand the land they operate on and save up to $140 per hectare per year, while only paying for the analytics they need. Ultimately, this allows for significant reductions in resource use and environmental impacts as well as improved productivity for all levels from individual to global scales.
